The Eruption Lens app requires use of GPS and camera to provide an augmented/virtual reality experience. GPS is used to check your position against the included viewpoints, to provide directions to viewpoints, and to determine where to place augmented reality content. The camera view is used as a backdrop for augmented reality content in live mode, available from anywhere. Both GPS and camera are only used while the app is running.
However, the app does not permanently store any location or camera data for any purpose.
The app does store a few preferences without any identifying information: whether to show distance in miles or km, whether to show instructions, and which images you have scanned.
